Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. It stands at an altitude of (8848m/29,029ft) in the Nepal-Tibet border. “Sagarmatha” is the Nepali name. The English name” Everest” was Named Everest by Sir Andrew Waugh. He was the British Surveyor-general of India in honors of his predecessor Sir George. This grandiose Mount Everest was finally conquered by Nepali mountaineer Tenzing Norgay Sherpa with his companion Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand on May 29, 1953, via the South Col route.
Mount Everest expedition from the Tibet side has become one of the most famous among the climbers to make their dream come true to stand on the peak of Everest. Low cost of royalty, Mountaineering services as well as one of the safest route to the top is the key factors which fascinate more Everest climbers from North Col. than from the South Col.
But technically, it is found that it is more exacting than the Southside but there is no icefall danger from this site. Everest North Ridge offers the panoramic view of the whole Everest region so this is also one of the attractive things about this place.
Mt. Everest has two chief climbing routes - southeast ridge from Nepal and the northeast ridge from Tibet there are other routes too. Among these two routes, the southeast ridge is considered to be technically easier and it is also the more frequently used route by the climbers. This is the same route that was used by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary in 1953.
The best time to trek to Everest is during May before the start of the summer monsoon season. Other seasons are not considered because of the extreme temperature and snow winds.
